Piaggio selected to provide engines for new Lambretta

Preston, WA August 12, 2004 -- CMSI today announced that the engine manufacturer selected for the new Lambretta scooter line to be produced for Lambretta USA will be Piaggio & C.s.p.a. of Pontedera (Pisa) Italy.

"This decision has taken some time and was well researched by our technical team and our Lambretta advisory board. The experience and R & D resources as well as homologation assets brought to the table by Piaggio were the key factors" according to Tom Lynott, CMSI President.

Several meetings between Piaggio management and CMSI management led to this final selection, including trips to Piaggio in Pontedera Italy by CMSI managers and trips to the USA by Piaggio managers, concluding with a visit to CMSI headquarters in Preston, WA by top Piaggio Executives Mr. Calderani Giuseppe and Ms. Laura Santonocito.

The "Phase Zero" rolling prototypes of the first Lambretta scooters will be put through various tests and evaluations by Piaggio technicians at the company's Pontedera testing facilities. The Piaggio 250cc water-cooled engine is being used for these prototypes and it is slated to be the first dispacement available to retail customers once the Lambretta hits the market in 2005.

Piaggio is world renowned for its production of high quality scooter engines and transmissions dating back to 1946.

"The combination of retro-classic Lambretta styling coupled with the reliable performance of Piaggio engines, should make the new Lambretta scooters a formidable and enticing product for serious scooter dealers and the discerning scooter enthusiast and collector" according to Lynott.
